FeastAhead-Importer
Last updated: 6 May 2026
FeastAhead-Importer is the bot that fetches recipes when a FeastAhead user pastes a URL into the recipe importer at /recipes/import. This page describes what the bot does, how to opt out, and how to request removal of imported content.
What is FeastAhead-Importer
FeastAhead-Importer is a single-shot fetcher invoked by an authenticated FeastAhead user to import a recipe page they have chosen. It identifies itself with the User-Agent string FeastAhead-Importer/1.0 (+https://feastahead.app/importer). It is not a crawler — it does not follow links, does not index the web, and only fetches a URL when a user explicitly pastes it.
What we store from imports
When a recipe is imported, FeastAhead stores the ingredient list, the cooking instructions, and one image (re-hosted on our infrastructure). Headnotes, anecdotes, and surrounding editorial copy are dropped at parse time. The original source URL is preserved alongside the recipe for attribution. Imported recipes are private to the user who imported them.
Opting out via robots.txt
FeastAhead-Importer respects robots.txt directives. To prevent the bot from fetching pages from your site, add the following block to your robots.txt:
User-agent: FeastAhead-Importer Disallow: /
